Your First Affiliate Earnings: An Affiliate Marketing System in 5 Incredibly Simple Steps

January 24th, 2010 Eugene Jimenez No comments

Is this your predicament? You really want to start an online business, but making that first sale seems totally daunting. Becoming an affiliate for someone else’s products seems like the logical first choice for the inexperienced. But how exactly do you go about making your very first affiliate earnings? Here is a simple affiliate marketing system in five steps to help you get organized.

1. Choose your niche: Doing what you love, and making money too.

There is a saying: Do what you love and the money will come.

That’s only half true.

You have to find an area you will enjoy working in. There is no point choosing to sell affiliate products for (say) cat care products if you hate cats.

If you choose a niche in which you have no interest whatsoever, you are likely to quit long before you make any money.

On the other hand, your chosen niche has to have money in it!

You will need to do both: strike a balance between what you love, and where you may be able to make money.

2. You represent your product.

In order to succeed at this business, you need to be able to stand over the product you are promoting.

Seems like pretty traditional advice, but you will feel better about your affiliate earnings if you know you have earned it in a principled way.

Ethics aside people will know if you are promoting something you don’t believe in. Moreover, you won’t feel good about yourself— unless you are simply a crook!

But you’re not, are you!?

3. Being an affiliate: It’s work, I’m afraid.

Tons of people sign up to be affiliates because it’s free. But, to really succeed, you have to make the decision for success.

Failure to commit is what causes failure, not lack of skill. Failure to commit to our business, our product, and ourselves.

You must have an affiliate marketing system, and you must commit to working it. It does not matter how fancy it is if you simply won’t make that decision.

So… commit to success. Commit to the future.

3. Now is the only time to start.

We can also fail by putting off to tomorrow what must be done today.

Get started NOW! Stop waiting until you think the “time is right”!

The digital product vendor will provide you with a wealth of promotional materials. These may include a sales page, some model texts you can use in emails, banner ads, etc. Every affiliate program also has an automated system for paying you your commissions.

You can assume the sales materials will be of good enough quality that you can have confidence in them. Digital product vendors test their tools over and over repeatedly.

So… you have every reason just to make a start. Expect you will make mistakes and do silly things. Welcome your errors as learning opportunities. But, above all, once you’ve started, don’t stop!

Here’s something you should put on your bathroom mirror: Fail fast, fail often. Failing can be a blast when you decide to stop looking back at your mistakes!

Think about it.

5. Be a Scrooge with your money.

Never spend money you don’t have. It’s not worth going into debt to start off: aim for the cheapest traffic there is.

Get busy in forums. Write ten articles, then ten more. Ten more after that! Get active on social networking sites.

Those first sales should come to you with the smallest outlay you can manage. Be creative, but be cheap.

Once some sales are coming in, reinvest your profits and begin to pay for some of your traffic.

Pay per click, fancier websites, an autoresponder for your subscription list. They all cost money– so do it later, not now.

That’s it guys: five steps to get your first affiliate earnings. This little affiliate marketing system is just common sense– and that’s the point. First, do what you love, but be profitable. Second, promote only good products. Third, make a decision you are going to succeed. Fourth, start now, and don’t stop. Finally, save your pennies so they can become dollars. Now… was that hard?

Learning Internet Marketing Basics: 3 Great Places to Go for Affiliate Marketing Help

January 22nd, 2010 Gene Jimenez No comments

Are you serious about learning internet marketing basics? If you are, good news! You have a huge variety of learning resources at your disposal. So many, in fact, that you may have a very difficult time making up your mind where to go for affiliate marketing help. There is too much choice! Here I am going to suggest three excellent sources where you may cheaply access high quality internet marketing info.

1. Here is a resource that is completely free!

One of the best places to “listen in” on what the affiliate marketing industry is saying to itself is forums.

Forums are free to join, and are great learning environments.

Here, you will often find the true masters of internet marketing rubbing shoulders with the less experienced, generously sharing their wisdom. All you have to do is plug in and find out what the crowd is saying.

You can learn an amazing amount as people swap stories about what has gone well for them, what hasn’t, and exchange advice.

Caution: Forums require a certain degree of good etiquette. A forum is a very tight, targeted group of people who are passionate and knowledgeable about their niche. You should show good manners when you are new, and be respectful of others’ opinions. Bad manners may get you barred from a forum.

2. This one is free as well!

Article directories are another great resource for learning your trade. You can pick up an awful lot on internet marketing basics. All the information can be accessed for free, and you have permission to re-publish articles on your own website provided you give the author credit and preserve his or her web links.

The trouble with the article directories, in my view, is that quite a lot of the stuff you find there is too sales oriented. The author is merely using the article as a free vehicle to get his or her links up, but is not offering the reader much substance.

Just the same, I have often found badly needed affiliate marketing help by searching a good quality directory.

Not all of the information was of great help to me, but I have often unearthed some real gems!

3. And there are plenty of paid resources.

There is a huge variety of paid resources out there as well. Many of these are of very high quality and are well worth the price.

What I find, though, is that these products often have only one dimension to them. The author has a particular angle on the problem of internet marketing, and wants to offer you what he or she believes is the unique, one-size-fits-all solution.

But life isn’t like that.

It is also worth noting that some affiliate guides are overpriced. I have come across a monthly subscription for an internet marketing school priced at $700.00. This is far too much!

If you are looking for a paid resource, you should look for one that is modestly priced, functions on a membership basis, recognizes that different marketers have different needs, but most of all offers ongoing help and instruction.

To recap, learning internet marketing basics is not hard. Most of it is simple and logical, an extension of common sense. Enjoy the process! Join forums and familiarize yourself with the better article directories— these are tremendous resources. But excellent affiliate marketing help can be had if you choose the right paid resource. I think you can best serve your interests with a membership deal that is reasonably priced, that teaches you different angles on marketing, and that offers ongoing tutoring. It is said that when the student is ready, a teacher appears. If you are serious about your business, take that to heart and seek out ongoing mentorship.

Earning Extra Income At Home: 3 Reasons to Choose a Residual Income Affiliate Program

January 15th, 2010 Gene Jimenez No comments

What are the most profitable affiliate marketing programs? The affiliate industry is entering a boom time. Affiliate reselling has never been more popular, especially in these tough recessionary times. Earning extra income at home has become an urgent necessity for thousands of people. So, which ones should you join? Here are three reasons why I believe a residual income affiliate program should be your first choice.

1. Like fleas on a dog and a dime a dozen.

Once, I heard a very successful businessman say that lawyers, doctors, dentists and accountants are a dime a dozen, but good ones are hard to find.

Affiliate programs are like that… like fleas on a dog, or a dime a dozen. All of them promise to make you rich by next Tuesday!

The reality? Most affiliate products sell slowly, if they ever sell at all.

Check out the Clickbank stats for any of their product categories. At any given time, only a few are selling really well, and many of those perhaps for only a short time.

2. So is affiliate marketing not the industry it’s cracked up to be?

No. Affiliate marketing is one of the greatest opportunities on earth! Every industry has its market leaders who show staying power and sell consistently. The others are all trying to get a piece of the leader’s market share. It is no different in this business.

In fact, affiliate marketing is one of the very best businesses for you to be in if you are serious about earning extra income at home, especially in these recessionary times.

The challenge for us to find a special combination of profitability and stability. We need to know we can both make money NOW, and into the future.

A residual income affiliate program is set up to provide us with exactly those two ingredients.

Think of a gym that sells memberships. They could choose to charge a substantial fee each time a member of the public walks in the door, but the folks who run gyms are smarter than that.

It is more profitable for them to offer you a daily discount in return for selling you a year’s membership. They make far more money that way.

Same with a membership website.

They could sell their products on a “one product per sale” basis, and charge a lot more as they do it, but they have figured out that it is far more profitable to offer folks memberships, with unlimited access to all their facilities at a discount… and still make money.

3. What does this mean for you?

Like all other digital product vendors, owners of membership sites need to sell a lot to stay on top…so they need motivated folks like you and I to sell for them! They want you and I to sell as many memberships as we can in return for a monthly commission.

It’s like selling gym memberships door to door, and getting a commission.

Except the whole world is your “sales territory”.

And you get your commission paid to you month after month after month after month…

A membership site charging, say, US$30.00 per month might only pay you 50% per month, or US$15.00.

But over the long term, what is a membership worth to you in commissions? Well, if you sell a membership that lasts six months, and you collect $15.00 per month, that’s $90.00.

Ninety dollars multiplied by some modest number of sales per month, like 20, let’s say, is $1800.00 per month. Not a fortune, but surely enough to whet your appetite.

Isn’t that enough for you to see the possibilities?

The average affiliate program is just… average. A good residual income affiliate program towers above the competition, in my view. Most affiliate reseller programs lack the ability to keep selling more than a short period. We need to look for good membership programs with a record of good, consistent sales. Really earning extra money at home requires us to look beyond the sale we may make today, and look at how a program performs over the long haul.

Make Affiliate Marketing Work For you: 3 Incredibly Simple Tips for the Affiliate Reseller

January 14th, 2010 Gene Jimenez No comments

As an affiliate reseller, has this happened to you? You hear about a brilliant way to get more traffic to your website using articles to promote your links, but you can’t get good, reliable information about how to do it properly. Relax: here are three incredibly simple tips to get you going in article marketing. Make affiliate marketing work through publishing— the right way!

1. Write two articles

The first job is… write an article.

(“Yeah, I already know that”, you say.)

Writing an article is hard work for a lot of people, so I respect the effort it may take some folks. Persist with your writing efforts; it does get easier, I promise.

In the beginning, your articles might be…. well, let’s just say not too good.

Stick with it. Great article writers were all made from poor ones. It takes practice.

Now that you have written your article, write another version of it, using the same keywords. You’ll need two versions of the same article to do what I am going to show you.

Don’t go overboard. Do some rewording, use the same keywords, change the order of your thoughts, but make it essentially a quite similar article.

Two versions are needed for publication. Google hates duplicate content, so make Google happy by not over-publishing the same material.

You think that’s too much work?

I don’t know about you, but I want to make money. Do you want to make affiliate marketing work for you? It’s your call.

2. Start with the best.

Your article will be read and noticed by appearing in the top five or six most highly ranked article directories. These sites get a lot of traffic, which you are going to “borrow”, so to speak. So this is where we start.

An affiliate reseller has to live with plenty of competition. If you are not committed to getting your article read, believe me, your competitor is.

Ezinearticles is, by far, the largest and most popular article directory in the English language.

There is no argument about this. EZA is simply huge. So publish here first.

The remaining five or so are your next target directories. It is anyone’s guess which are really in this group… rankings change over time. Join the top ten or twelve and keep track. Use whomever is on top at any given time.

3. And now down the food chain.

You wrote another version of your article, right? Now let’s use it.

Version two will be submitted to the next twenty highest ranked article sites. They won’t be read much, because these sites don’t see much traffic, but you will get valuable backlinks.

Google and all other search engines like to see two things. They like to see keywords, but they also like to see backlinks.

Good keywords get your articles to show up well in the top tier article directories.

A ton of backlinks from the lesser ranked article sites gets your website noticed by the search engines.

Trust me: you want both.

Let’s recap: Write version one of our article, then version two. Write as well as you can, and keep at your writing– it will improve with practice. (An affiliate reseller can only expect success through persistence!) Version one goes to EZA and the next five or so top ranked directories. Version two goes to the next twenty lower ranking article sites. Repeat this process on a regular basis, at least weekly. This will really make affiliate marketing work for you, believe me. Sure, it’s work, but well worth your time and effort.

How to Make Money in a Recession: 3 Tips for Building a Home Internet Business

January 10th, 2010 Gene Jimenez No comments

Building a home internet business has become a necessity for the many thousands struggling to cope with the recession. Bank managers are reluctant to do business with us, and our jobs are no longer as secure as they once seemed. Here are three vital tips to help you make money in a recession and survive these challenging times.

1. Yes, it is possible. Even for you.

Before you even start, you have to know in your heart that it is possible. Without prior experience in internet marketing, it is possible for the novice to learn this craft, and start earning extra money from home.

Most likely you already have the basic tools— a PC and a broadband connection.

If you don’t, they are not difficult to get a hold of. In a recession, prices are falling, sometimes drastically. If you shop around, you are likely find some great deals on high speed internet packages, as well as a good quality second hand PC. (One note of caution: always have a second hand computer checked out by an expert before buying!)

Broadband access is more widely available than ever before. You won’t need more than the basic home package offered by your ISP. That will be plenty fast enough for your purposes.

2. Sell other peoples’ stuff.

Forget eBay or the other auction sites. What I am proposing to you is far more profitable!

You are going to learn how to find a good quality digital product that other people will want to buy, and become an agent or affiliate for that product.

So, for example, you already know that millions of people are enthusiastic about cats. They buy cat calendars, collect cat figurines and look for cute cat photos. They own about nine cats and feed them better than they feed themselves!

Don’t you think they buy cat-related digital products as well? E-books on the care and feeding of cats? DVD’s on how to breed cats? Cat grooming manuals?

Indeed they do.

This is how to make money in a recession: Find a group of fanatics, people who spend money on a particular passion or hobby whether the economy is great or not so great. When you have found that group…

…fill their need!

3. You need to start off on the right foot.

It is very easy to become a product affiliate. Visit the home page of any digital product that catches your attention, and which you think others would be interested in. Somewhere on that home page, often at the very bottom, you’ll find a link that says “affiliates”, or “become an affiliate”. Follow that link. You’ll be taken to a page where you simply fill in your details, and within moments you can become an affiliate with rights to sell the product in return for a commission.

That’s the easy part.

Making sales is where the work is. It is not hard work, but it is definitely work. But, do this right, and sales can start coming in within a week or two.

Many have done this!

But there is a catch…

… you need to invest in your affiliate marketing education.

If you are willing to do that, you will be miles ahead of thousands of others who do not take their business seriously, and do not understand what an affiliate business can do for them.

Don’t let that be you!

To sum up: How to make money in a recession is not difficult. Anyone can acquire the skills. Building a home internet business is well within the reach of anyone, regardless of experience. There is an army of digital product vendors looking for people willing to work, and will reward them well for their sales efforts. It normally is free to become a product affiliate; however, expect to have to invest in your own education. Affiliate marketing will work for you, but only if you are willing to work and learn!
